I don’t even know where to begin. I started my journey to Joseph and Kathy’s wedding from Fort Collins, where it was a sunny 60 degrees, and drove deep into Estes Park where it was a brisk 40 or so and snowing. Already my first expectation of the day was shattered. I had envisioned a nice, warm, sunny day and instead it was cold, cloudy, and snowing quite hard. But it didn’t matter to me – I was excited to be there and ready to get to work.
When I first met Joseph and Kathy I knew we would work well together. They’re both fun to be around and have a laid-back approach to life; they were constantly smiling and laughing, poking fun at each other, and giggling about all the little nuances around them. Thus, it was a little surprising to see Kathy quite nervous getting ready and making sure everything was in place. I’m no mind-reader, but if I had to put money on it, I’d say Kathy was nervous out of excitement. Sure, it was snowing, guests were arriving, the runway was slippery, the buttons on her dress weren’t cooperating (don’t worry – they never do), and time was running out, but I’d wager that in the back of Kathy’s mind were the words, “I am so exciting and happy. It is today, and I cannot wait.”
Joseph and Kathy are an absolute joy to be around; respectful, kind, sincere, warm, funny, and dedicated. I see no end to their love and I am so happy they chose me to be a part of their amazing, wonderful, and fun day.
To Kathy and Joseph: Thank you. I had an incredible day with you. Thank you for being so accomodating. Thank you for making sure I was taken care of on YOUR day. Thank you for having such an awesome, bad-ass group of friends and family (they really are). Thank you for being so easy to work with and comfortable being in front of the camera. Thank you for requesting the DJ play Lady Gaga and making me dance. Thank you – and your family – for dancing. Thank you for being in love.
Finally, if there’s one piece of advice I could give you it would be this:
In love and in life,
Expect nothing. Accept everything.

Love your use of lighting, both naturally outdoors as well as in the reception. It looks like it would be a challenging place to take pictures, but a photogrpher as talented as you totally nailed it!

The father of the bride doesn’t get glassy-eyed on too many occassions, but looking through these photo’s was one of them. Great job capturing the moment, the exitement, and the emotions.
